Xinhua Silk Road: E. China's Zaozhuang boosts farmers' income through science-based management

BEIJING,March 18,2025 -- Farmers are busy pollinating cherry blossoms in the cherry greenhouses ofQicun Town,Shizhong District in Zaozhuang City,east China's Shandong Province,paving the way for a bumper harvest this year.

The district has scaled up greenhouse cherry cultivation by adopting a "cooperative + farmer" model,which has significantly improved management efficiency and boosted farmers' incomes.

The agricultural department of Shizhong District has introduced advanced pollination techniques and high-quality cherry varieties such as Huangmi and Meizao. In addition,experts have been invited to teach farmers about flower thinning,pest control,etc.,further enhancing the quality and competitiveness of their cherries.

Through science-based management and technical support,the cherry industry has become a key driver of rural revitalization.

With pollination efforts well underway,greenhouse cherries are expected to hit the market by mid-April.
